El Rey De Las Fritas

Todd Blackledge visited Miami during week 11 of the 2013 college football season. While there he stopped in at El Ray De Las Fritas for his episode of Taste of the Town on ESPN.

“El Rey de las Fritas, translated “The King of the Fritas”, or Cuban hamburgers, is located in the heart of Miami’s little Havana. It’s been owned and operated by the Gonzalez family for over 50 years and this original location on calle ocho is run day to day by daughter Mercedez. It serves an incredible variety of clientele. A frita is a combination of ground beef and chorizo and the patties are made fresh daily with a family formula of spices. Then they’re grilled with onions and special sauce, topped with cheese and shoestring potatoes and all served on a toasted bun. Now, I had to add some of mama Angelina’s famous beans. Now, vamos a trabajar!”
